Since building my first engine more than 30 years ago, I had no interest in internal combustion engines, better left to the rev heads! Until being inspired by a recent 4 stroke build by our forum member "Kadett" all the way over Russia. His was a fascinating build in that he used salvaged components from brake cylinders to build his piston and crankcase, Gears from a gas meter for his 2:1 reduction gear and even made his own spark plug. It was a joy to see operating. As a result, I have now commenced on my "Jan Ridders Otto 4 stroke

The inlet and exhaust cams will be made in pairs

I will be following your thread with interest. This might be one of my future next projects after i complete 100% my Debbie and a stirling.
Cheers,
Giacomo

Measure twice cut once. These parts just fit in . These uprights along with base plate and support plate are 10mm Aluminium and will be partly finished on my "Wham bam thank you maam" no fuss disk sander

The end plates are 10mm thick aluminium plate and I have used 6060 T5. I made up a paper pattern to the correct sizes and cut them out with a jigsaw fitted with a metal.cutting blade. Some form of lubrication is essential so used a dry lube, this facilitates cutting.

This engine by Jan looks so good. Once I saw it running in youtube, I said I had to make one. To make it more
challenging for myself, I decided to make one that looks like his engine a little larger but using my own design.

Borna

Borna, I did see yours and was impressed, well done.

Here is the left support ready to drill/bore/file by hand. The two other supports will be made the same way

Here is one of the three uprights with lightening holes addes and being drilled for the 8x22 bearing. Note I have removed one of the 4 jaws and used a bolt in a convenient spot as the jaw would not extend sufficiently. All uprights will be machined the same way

Mounting plate almost complete. Need. to figure out how to counterbore a 30 mm diameter bore 5mm deep without a faceplate or mill.
