At one time our good friend Maryak posted a set of drawings for a hit and miss engine. I'm curious----Did anyone ever build an engine from these plans? Did it run? Were the plans accurate as originally published? I'm casting about looking for a project, and although I have a copy of "The Shop Wisdom of Phillip Duclos" which has some excellent plans in it, I'm curious about the Maryak engine.---Brian

Hi Guys,

I'm still here but less active than I used to be.

There was a member here JRNYMAN2LMAYKER who pm'd me several times and I think he made a start on it but that was quite some time ago.

As far as the plans go I did the best I could but that's about it. It would be presumptuous of me to say that they are great when it's never been built.

Best Regards
Bob

Thank you Bob. If I decide to build your engine, I'll definitly let you know. I'm rather torn right now. I don't particularly want to start another project, but I don't have enough engineering work to keep me busy, and its the middle of a long, cold Canadian winter.

Hi Brian. I am about 75% done on Bob (Maryak) hit and miss. I'll post some photos soon. So far the plans seem pretty good although Bob does pop in from time to time on his way home from his workshop to help me out. I have just made the valves 316ss and about to bed them in to the aluminium head. What is the best way to go about this ? All ideas welcome

Hi Herbie,

The engine we are making is the Depenbusch engine and it's not the one I designed. See my designed engine in the plans area.

Best Regards
Bob

Ahh. I see. That too looks like a really good engine. Another set of plans on my "must build list"
How is your engine going. Last I heard it met with an accident ?

Yes, it fell off the bench and I've been messing about with boilers and my daughters emergency fire pump, (she's at Kangarilla). Got the pump running, the recoil starter collapsed so they bought a new one. Now they have 2!! Still it's better than Zero:)

Best Regards
Bob
