I borrowed my daughters camera to make a video (with sound) of my newest engine running. It made an excellent video, but it saved it as a .avi file, and its 103 Kilobytes---way too big to post. Does anybody know what I have to do to reduce the size of this so that I can post it?---thanks---Brian

Hey Brian

Afraid I can't help you. However, Divided He ad is very good at it. Hopefully when he comes on he will see this.

103 kilobytes is chicken feed. You must mean 103 MEGAbytes.

Upload it to YouTube or PhotoBucket or ... Then all you need to include in your post is the URL pointing to it.

Hi
try this link on Youtube

Convert Videos from .AVI to .WMV to Upload to Youtube!!!

Yep I've seen it Eric ;D

Hi Brian, I think Jacques Vid' shows what I do in a way. (slightly different version I think?)

I'm not sure about the file types you-tube takes? but if it will not accept avi then.....

1/ I copy the video from my camera into 'my videos' file folder.

2/ Then I open the movie maker and 'import Video' and select the video I just saved onto my computer.

3/Edit the hell out of it ;D (purely optional)

4/ select 'publish to this computer' (save to ' my videos')

5/ wait s few min's and when finished look in your 'my videos' folder.... it shows up with the .wmv file

6/ go to my you tube account and select upload video (takes ages but eventually works)

7/ play the vid to check it all works. Select 'more info' then select the URL and paste on my post.

That's how I do it.... If between Jacques video and my little run through it doesn't work then we can look at something else :)

I found out to my 'time cost' that photobucket doesn't take very large video files.... took over half an hour and only uploaded 2/3 of my last movie!!!

Hope this helps? ;D

Ralph.

I just wrote all that and then checked... you tube supports Avie!!!!!!!!!!!

Upload your Vid' then when you play it, open the 'more info' tab to the right of the play screen next to your (usually cut short) description of your Vid'. Then copy the URL that appears at the bottom of the description (highlight it by clicking the left mouse button once and then click once with the right mouse button and select copy) then using the right button on your post select paste... check using 'preview' and it should be there.!?! ;D

If Most of this is telling granny to suck eggs then I'm sorry... But it may help someone? ;)

Thanks fellows. I didn't even know that I had 'windows movie maker" on my new computer. I tried to follow Ralphs instructions, and was somewhat successfull---It reduced the file size from 100 Megs to 7.5 Megs. I'm sure I did something wrong, because when I click on the post I get a big warning sound and a message saying ---well, check it out---

You need to post the video, not the project file. Hit the 'publish movie' or 'save movie' button and upload the result from that.

I have been trying to find a way of putting videos taken on my camera onto my iPod and if anyone is interested I have unearthed an easy way of importing avi movie files into ipod format. Download a free piece of software from http://www.download.com/AVI-To-iPod-Converter/3000-2140_4-10674529.html?hhTest=1 and follow the simple instructions. The resulting file can then be imported into iTunes then automatically onto your iPod.
