We have suffered another 2 major quakes in Christchurch this afternoon,a 5.5 and a 6.
Somehow they felt worse than previous ones because of the rolling motion that came with it.
Sadly,my backyard is again full of silt,so I'll be kept busy with a shovel and wheel barrow for a while.
No damage to my workshop, other than a pool of grey water on the floor.
If it's not an ash cloud,it's an earthquake ::)
Luckily it appears no one was killed, and less than 10 people seriously injured.
The centre of town was still closed, which was probably a good thing,as several buildings damaged previously have suffered further decay.
It's expected several eastern suburbs will be bulldozed to the ground, and not built on again.
We were only without power and water for a few hours, but 40.000 homeowners are not so lucky. They are not expected to have power till tomorrow, and we are into overnight frosts. It's going to be mighty cold.
Parts of the country are now affected by ash clouds,so air travel is severely disrupted too.
I love this country, but man,I'm really teed off at the moment.

Hans,

I just saw the footage on ABC24. Bloody hell, when will you get a break ???

We are thinking of you guys on the other side of the Tasman.

Best Regards
Bob

I was thinking about all of you blokes in OZ when I heard the news of that ash cloud and just now saw a news blurb regarding the earthquakes. Keep the faith, there are people in this world that really do care about what happens to those that we have never met. Prayers go out to all that have been effected by the recent rash of natural disasters that have plagued that part of the globe this past few years.

So sorry to hear the news, Hans.

Jim, I could see ash in the yellow sky over Perth just after the red dawn this morning.
