Hi all,
I am sure this has been beat around a lot, but I couldn't find info in one thread, so I'm posting this.
How do you finish out your aluminum and brass parts to keep them shiny after you buff them out? I have been using clear polyurethane, with mixed results. It seems to tolerate the fuel and oils quite well, but it just doesn't become "invisible" like I would like,
Just wondering.

Feast Watson paints put out a special brass laquer. Seems to work on aluminum too. Just make sure parts are clean and degreased before application.

Although it seems like a lot of work I just keep them natural and a couple of times a year I spend extra time polishing them. I have found that by putting any type of finish on them has mixed results. It's great if they never get chipped or worn but if they do then you get a discoloration in one area. The only way that can be fixed is to strip all the clear finish and start over which actually ends up as more work than plan A.
