Very nice find! I got one from my dad after he passed away a few years ago. It's in decent shape. Not sure if I want to do anything with it or leave it as is. I've run it a couple of times and it runs good, not to sure if I can trust the glass tube on the boiler Mark

    Horizontal Mill Engine From Kit

Carl, I got a 5C chuck for my lathe from CDCO. I checked and it's still $139. You'll need an adapter to bolt it on your lathe, but that's only about $30. The chuck is really nice, runs very true. Once you use collets, you'll never want to use a jawed chuck again ;D Mark

What RPM can you get? The best thing that happened was that I burned up the moter on my Micro Mill. That forced me to do a belt drive (I made my own) and now I have up to 9000 RPM :big: For what most of us do here the increase in RPM really helps Mark

    My Elbow Engine

Finally got the flywheel done. It runs pretty good, but is an air hog. Still leaks between the cylinders and mounting points. I'll try tuning it a little more, but I'm pretty much done with this one. I want to do one with a longer stroke and experiment with different materials so stay tuned. It...

What draws more blood from fingers than burrs on workpieces ?

Yeah, I used to have an Amazon parrot. He could puncture you faster than you'd think! Mark

    My Elbow Engine

1Kenny, thanks for the tip. I hadn't thought about the center axis maybe not being coplanar; will check it. Blogs, thanks for your thoughts too. I have it running down to about 12-15 PSI without a flywheel, so I think I'm pretty close. The cylinder is leaking only one side so I think it's axis...

    My Elbow Engine

An update and a little more learning on my part here. I had pulled it apart to add the counterbores on the baseplate for the orings. I had labeled the pistons and cylinders so I could get everything back the same way. Good enough? No. I put it back together and it just wouldn't run at anything...

    My Elbow Engine

Does anyone see any problem with my drawing up a complete set of plans, incorporating the changes I've made and posting them here? I, of course won't present it as my own design, I'd just like to redimension and clarify a few things Mark
