    Graeme Quayle 20/20 Engine

Morning all, Thanks for the comments, unfortunately it was a paid for set of plans with the box of stock bar to build with so I am unable to upload them for general consumption. and yes, a boiler would be great! I am keen to build one but my silver soldering has to get a whole lot better yet...

    Graeme Quayle 20/20 Engine

Hi all, I thought I would show you my completed engine, I have worked on this for the last 7 years, on and off.. (well, more off than on to be honest.) I guess it took me about a month of actual machining by the time I remade parts etc, it's been a learning experience that's for sure. The...

    Grizzly Stirling Engine

Pretty happy with it, it certainly spins up quicker than I expected! but what a bugger to get them running right, they have to be so precise with no tight spots.. was a challenge (but a good one!)

    Grizzly Stirling Engine

Hi all, I just finished my Grizzly Stirling engine, actually it's a little bitter sweet. My late father (passed end of 2016) started the build back in Shetland, UK - he made the power cylinder, block and the stand but never got around to completing it. I shipped all his tools etc out to NZ and...

    a small update

thanks DJP, I do like the warmth of the wood and it is oddly enough quite important to me, my friends questioned why I didn't use metal tops but it just didn't feel nice, they mock me now that I have wood panels to cover my benches so that they dont get damaged!! I do have a wood working...

    a small update

I have put a lot of thought into it but I also have taken a huge amount of inspiration from my father (who recently passed away) he was the king of storage in small spaces :) and although I have plenty of room, I do like that everything is close as you say, even just a few feet apart between...

    a small update

Hi thanks for that! yep it's been a bit in the making to be honest, I just got that lathe and replaced my other myford so recently built this part of the bench.. The little door is where my coolant tank is for the lathe, I have a air system that uses a ventury affect to suck the coolant up and...

    a small update

Hi everyone, I thought I would put a couple more pics up of the shop, my tool gathering has become a bit of a problem! Those tins you see in the first photo - they are the old Golden Virginia tobbacco tins that have been collected over the years, I have about 1700 of them :)

Yep, I think VFD is a great idea - My Myford has a three phase motor and VFD which makes a world of difference. I think I will spend the time cleaning it up and painting - That will give SWMBO time to get used to the expense of the VFD :)

Well I am now the proud owner of a $300 Russian lathe! More photos tomorrow when I get the truck to drop it off :) he even threw in a single to three-phase converter box (I hope it works)

Yeh, that was my first port of call for information but that's a different model than the one I was looking at, I think that's a fair bit larger as well.. still, it's a great website for information. cheers
