My method to zero Z axis to part.

I have been using this for some time now. I know there is 20 different ways to do this, but this was something simple. It's a piece of two sided copper clad circuit board. I cut a slot about 3/4" from one end and soldered a tab to hold a button cell 3 volt battery in place. Then I placed an LED...

    Small metal shear

This is a piece of 20g sheet metal about 10" long. very little effort. I have owned this 3 in 1 for over 3 years with no issues. The cut is very clean with no bur. I know it's Chinese and it's a crap shoot if you get a good one or not, but I'm happy with it. The bender could be a bit better but...

    Small metal shear

I have the 12" 3 in 1 and the shear is the best part. The rollers are good too but the break is so so. It uses leafs like a box pan bender and on longer or wider pieces the bend is not uniformed along the whole length.

    New Lathe install

Nice machine. My brother has the same one. The only issue he had was after a year or so, one of the contacts stuck and when he went the other direction it blew both contactors. But one set of contacts was welded closed and the motor would not shut off. Even with the "E" stop. He had to turn the...

    How to make a radiator?

I know part of the fun is making it from scratch, but could you not buy a CPU water cooler. There are so many different sizes and looks. Then just build a nice cover top and bottom to represent the tanks. You can even get them with fans...

Drill press converted to tapping machine

Thanks for the idea. Took an old drill press out of storage and converted it. Works well. I adjusted the spring return so that it was sitting in the middle instead of all the way to the top. Now it has enough force down to auto start the thread process as I turn. Cheers

    My overengineered 3d printer

Have you tried a purge cycle every once in a while. We run adhesives and sealer steady, and every so many jobs we need to purge the nozzles or the flow rate becomes too low and fails..

    A good bench drill press

If you don't want to break the bank. I have been using this model since it came out. Has to be about 3 years now. For the first year and a half I was making a motorcycle lift for sale. Holes ranged from 1/4" drill bit to 7/8" Uni-Bit. I sold well over 100 of these units and never had an issue...

    Tig Welder

I was thinking..... Have you ever thought of adapting an ER16 collet assembly to thread into your swivel mount. If you did something like that, you could then turn almost anything down to 3/8" or less with a 1/2" shoulder. Then modify the collet nut with a ring so you don't need a wrench to...
