Hello from Australia + request for advice

G'Day Eldi. Last year I imported a crate from South Africa. It came to Sydney via Singapore. The Crate was 596 KG and packed in a sea container with other unrelated crates. That import cost me $8,496.00 AUD. The importers were Globelink International. Just letting you...

Almost burned my shop down and didn't even know it

The AS/NZS WIRING RULES. Australian Standards/New Zealand Standards 3000 were originally written by an insurance company. Resulting in a very complicated and detailed set of rules and standards. Hence the requirements for a workshop are very detailed and specific. It's all based on a...

Almost burned my shop down and didn't even know it

WOW. As far as I have seen . The American household electrical system is scary. No switched outlets, solid core wires, metal based sockets. It just goes on and on. In Australia we use 240 V as a domestic supply . We have switched outlets that are made of a non conducting "plastic"...

The good ol lithium battery hates the cold. My vacuum goes flat in minutes unless I sit it in the sun for 20 minutes then recharge it (from supposedly full) After15 minutes of more charging, the vacuum will run for 30 minutes.

What have you been doing today?

Today I have been fitting door tracks to my new Workshop / Garage. The builder can't do it, it's too hard. Sadly I engaged a company that is incompetent and crooked. With the natural disasters in Australia lately . Builders have an abundance of work so they can pick and choose what they...

Effective muffler for a two-stroke model aeroplane engine.

I made heaps of muffler designs for my 393 cu in V8 . I eventually found the best design was the one called the dual flow spiral muffler. It initially was too restrictive in flow. So I played with the spiral part and removed the pipe inside the spiral. I then put the spiral inside a...

    Hello

I bought a Smithy CB 1229 XL 20 odd years ago. It has served me well building car parts . Engine , carby ,suspension and decorative trim etc. It isn't over robust but if you take your time the accuracy is pretty good and repeatable. Over time I have modified it here and there just to...

    Horizontal Air Cooled Engine

Yep. My mate raced go karts and was pretty successful in his class. I noticed all the racers putting their hands over the carby intake when braking into a corner. I asked why and they explained that it sucks a lot of fuel into the engine and cools it rapidly. Most of the fuel went raw out...

Two stroke engines were also cooled by the fuel.

Well seeing that I was joking ( hint the wink at the end) I'm glad you are enjoying working on your bike. I'm not a biker but I have built myself an open top sports car. We have lots of sunshine here in OZ. I have also built and machined many different parts for my car. Suspension ...
