    Belier finished & installed in model. Wood insulation around the outside, on the ends covered with old soldering mat. The front has a stainless plate. with long bolts through the bulkhead at back. this holds it together & keeps it in place.

    The boiler needed to fit in a hull 5.5 ins wide. Length restricted to 100mm. I saw a 16g + 103mm + 300mm copper tube on EBay at £9.99 to good to be true. With free p&p what if its rubbish, probably use it for something. Lucky me it came bran new with the British standard marked steam tube...

    Well it has be joined up with out much trouble. Just formed rings of solder around the .5inch connecting pipes before assembly. This design only used in model form, so far as I know.

    I should have said bore not drill perhaps. But you do get 2, so you can keep one for another engine.woohoo1I think the emery could take some time, and the ends tend to flare out.

    Can you drill a hole the size of the cylinder in a block, then cut the block in half.

    GWRdriver, THANKS FOR REMINDING ME OF THIS POST. THE CLUB TESTER DID EVENTUALY AGREE TO A TEST. WHICH IT PASSED. I HAVE SUCSESSFULLY STEAMED THE ENGINE, BUT NOT IN THE BOAT YET. R.G.Y.

    I need to cut a scallop out the top of a 28mm tube so another tube of the same diameter will fit down 6mm across at 90degrees. I only have a lathe with a vertical slide. Or is it down to hand work. I hope not as i need 20.
