    digital thermometer for amateur HT

Some ebay vendors are just cheating. They sell you a 1300 C digital thermometer, but the cheap thermocouple that come with it has a very limited temperature range (usually 150 or 200 C). 1300 C is the maximum range of the thermometer, NOT the probe (sometime they forget to mention this...). For...

    VFD stop switch

My VFD (Toshiba VF-nC3) has a menu for setting internal or external command mode (0 = terminal, 1 = panel keyboard, 2 = RS485). Default setting is 1, I had to set it to 0 to use external switches and potentiometers.

    rduino sketches

Hi Chuck, sometimes, when you use cut and paste you can include some "invisible" chars (newlines, strange symbols...); the editor doesn't show them but they are here and the compiler generates a syntax error. If you completely delete the line and rewrite it by hand, without using cut and paste...

    Stepper board question

Hi Chuck A simple way for testing a stepper driver: - connect +5V, +24V and GND to a power supply - connect Enable to GND - connect a wire to Pulse and repeatedly touch +5V and GND with the free end of the wire - if the stepper motor doesn't move, connect Enable to +5V and try again - connect...

    Need a mathematician !

When I read "how many possible combinations with six pieces" I immediately recalled my statistical studies and posted a reply without worrying about what a "burr puzzle" is (my fault). :hDe: 720 is just the number of possibile different "anagrams" (like Wikipedia calls them) that we can build...
