    Part support while milling

Sounds like the way to go as the parts themselves are not overly large and the rotary table is only a 3 incher.

    Part support while milling

Thanks for all the good suggestions. Tried both the parallel and shim (tounge depresspor) methods and both worked after head scratching on how to clamp all down. Clamps left barely enough room for the workpiece. Would hot gluing a shim/work sandwich to the table withstand the cutting forces...

    Fixing TDI

If it's like most clocks the hand has a pressed on brass bushing with a split back slightly smaller than the shaft that grips the shaft

    Drill or mill?

Thanks for that. A very good process to keep in mind. Pence in New Zealand? Not dollars like the Aussies?

Mine is a grizzly with bolt on chuck so no worries there.

    Parting made easy

Many may already know this but I tried a new way ( for me anyway) of parting off a part. I remembered seeing a YouTube video of someone parting off by having the parting tool upside down and then running the lathe spindle in reverse so I decided to give it a try. What a difference! Cut thru...

    Drill or mill?

After fooling with a Chinese boring bar set for half an hour and getting crappy results, I finished it with a 1/2 in drill in the lathe tail stock and the results were very good. Did a second one by progressively drilling a larger hole after starting with a center drill and that went smoothly...

    Drill or mill?

Have a .75 aluminum round, .5 inch long and it needs a .5 inch hole thru. Better to drill or mill?

This looks like an awesome project. Anyone know if original plans exist?

    Part support while milling

What does one use to shim under a flat part when edge milling on a rotary rable? Don't want to gouge the table inadvertently.

    Milling a circle

Finally broke down and ordered a rotary table. Now just have to figure out how to use it!;)

    Milling a circle

Looking more like that there is a rotary table in my future as I value all my digits to remain intact.

    Milling a circle

I'm making what I call a kinematic model of the one on the website, externally powered to make all the bits move. Currently working on the more linear parts.
