How to get a mirror finish on aluminum

lol.. was schooled in this art from this fellow's tuning channel . . Jaffromoble (this is the 8th in series if you want all the gory details.. ) think it all boils down to start at 320 and every grit change is a 90deg change in sanding directlion when the previous 'grain' is no longer visible ...

    Downsizing to a smaller lathe

.. I like Chris's vids very much, the red one's the Seig C4 which he laments that it's not a hardend bed, the other a Sherline which he uses the motor of, on occasion mounted to the cross slide to drive profile cutters for gear teeth, using a stepper on the rear to index the gear being cut in...

    Linux "Q4OS"

Actually on reflection, the best analogy for Ansible, on this particular forum is that it is "the CNC" of OS system management .. write it once, make a thousand.

    Linux "Q4OS"

yup .. IBM Red Hat want you to buy "Ansible Tower" for megabucks.. it's their webgui for Red Hat fleet automation (adjunct to Satellite). After 'Sponsoring' Ansbile (and to be fair throwing some $ at Ansible devlopment) which IS FOSS, they would. You do not have to buy it, if you need a...

    Linux "Q4OS"

Ta for the heads up .. Ah .. that would be why, I remove/disable snapd, I don't like it or the 'store'.. want straight apt repo transactions, thanks very much. Hmm.. if Ubuntu does that, LXD might be a manual installation from source if needed and possible, or change tactics, and move OS base...

    Linux "Q4OS"

Probably best frame that 'Updates' topic as .. updates to your running OS, and 'Upgrade' to that newer OS Version. Updates are awesome, stay safe .. do that regularly. Upgrade ... mmm, as to "do you like the new one?", in Linux land you can usually get a 'Runs of a DVD' or 'Live' version ...

    G'day from a Canberra 'Lurker' . .

Hi. After moving away from the 'Manual Trades' 15 odd years ago thanks to injury I've earned crusts by way of IT, in the 'Hot Air' capital of Australia. I find my self here suffering from the tangential pull of lost art, making 'Real' things with my own hands . . Whilst making 3000 whatsits at...
