    India Tools

I have bought a small rotary table and several sets of taps and dies from Indian companies and have been very pleased with the quality. I have also bought two motorcycle tanks from them and the workmanship was impressive. There are probably good and bad companies like everywhere.

    Rotary tables from India?

I had good results with taps from India,I bought a BA set two years ago and they have been trouble free. I must admit most of the material I tapped was Brass .

    What Machine tool is this?

I bought this for $20 from a buddy and thought I might be able to adapt it for cutting camshafts but wondered what it's original purpose was ? It is about 15" by 15" and very nicely made with velvet smooth way way action operated by the wooden handled lever on the right side. The knob at the...

    Brass Cleaner

I have had great success using Solvol Autosol,it's not cheap and it's hard to find.It is the best polish I have ever used for Aluminum and Brass on my vintage motorcycles.I agree Brasso is pretty good and much easier to source.

Harley Davidson 7A (1911) long long term project

Timeless Motorcycles in El Paso Texas make a full size replica which is a cross between an Excelsior and Harley Davidson of that year. They sell them in semi kit form,I have one but it is a bit of a hand full to get it to start and run. It has points and a total loss ignition system, the oil is...

    Compressed air powered cooler?

Thanks Mainer and Canadianhorsepower! I think I can make one with the materials at hand.I do have a problem getting copper pipe as naughty people here use it for making stills as booze is illegal here.I can get some stainless hydraulic tubing in it's place.Once made, I will be cooler during the...

    Compressed air powered cooler?

I used to use a small device that ran off compressed shop air,the air went in and exhausted in two places, the first place the exhaust air was hot,the second place it was so cold that:mad: frost formed upon it. We used it when working in aircraft fuel tanks to cool us off. Has anyone out there...

I may design an I.C. engine---

I too will be looking for a project engine in a few months, please persevere with your design,I will watch your progress with interest. The only point that I would like to make, and it's purely personal,I do prefer a pure IC engine, the hit and miss part I find a little fussy, let the thing run I...

Rescued beam engine from Hurricane Katrina

I saw a Stuart Beam engine in poor shape advertised in Baton Rouge La. for $325 a few years back. By coincidence I was going to travel from my home in Torrance to work in Lake Charles about 70 miles away from there,so I contacted the seller and said I was coming the 1785 miles to see it. He...
