creating v-belt sheave angles using Onshape

Woodster, You and Paul are correct that there was no full circle to draw the dimensions from. The trouble I was (and still am) having is placing the circles on the correct plain in the initial sketch. After the part went 3D there was no problem placing the circles but then those dimensions would...

creating v-belt sheave angles using Onshape

Had to start from scratch but the mirror tool did the trick. Draw the basic profile above the axis then mirror the profile below the axis before defining measurements. As with most everything I do, it might not have been the easiest way, but it worked for me. :p I give permission to all who want...

creating v-belt sheave angles using Onshape

Hi Paul The sheave profile was sketched above the center line followed by using the "revolve tool" to rotate the profile around the axis creating the sheaves. I just had a thought... I might be able to "mirror" the profile... hmmm Alan

creating v-belt sheave angles using Onshape

I figure out the sheave groove angle. By extending the lines of the sheave faces until they converged allowed me to measure and correct the geometry. Did that make sense? Still looking for a fix to change the radii of the profile into a diameter measurement. Alan

creating v-belt sheave angles using Onshape

Hiya Guys, Thx go out to kvom for leading us to Onshape. This is the first Cad site/software I have been able to run on this olde confuser. The tutorials are great and in about five hours I created a drawing depicting what will be the motor sheave for my Craftsmen badged 618. Almost...

    different power feed

Thanks for the kind words. Professional? Probably not. You can't see the flaws in the photograghs. My Olde Dad would say, "It works fine son, but it's not done until it looks good enough to sell." I actually planned on using a HF 18v drill. I bought the drill, stripped it for parts, and then...

    different power feed

The new motor arrived and dropped right in. Regearing increased the reduction from 48-1 to 108-1. All I can say is the it is a completely different machine. Table travel rates from 0.50" to 1.75" per minute with voltages from 2-10 volts. The motor controller is indeed receiveing 13vdc but...

    different power feed

I'm back from a business trip. The parental controls for the wifi at my hotel would not let me log on here. Thanks for the replies and advice. Even though we speak the same language, some of you Islanders lost me with your jargon. The head banging is over. I needed to stop confusing things by...

    different power feed

Some people will tell you that I tend to overthink everything. Here is a prime example of this. I have seen everything from cordless drills, wiper motors, to steppers. All of which have perfomed the task of driving the table admirably. My goal is not to drive the lead screw at nose bleed...

    Darex M2 manual?

Hiya Folks, My father in law asked me if I would be interested in a lightly used Darex M2 drill sharpener yesterday. I said, "of course I would". Long story short... I am now the proud owner of an almost new Darex M2. It looks like it should work just like my DD750 but I would still like to...

    steam show/threshing bee Sycamore, IL

I was on my way to the range for a service rifle clinic this morning and passed a sign that advertised a Steam Show & Threshing Bee slated for this weekend. On my way back the parking area was nearing capacity. I know what I will be doing tomorrow. The event is on Plank Rd. between the towns...

Two Engines in One or Elmer Gets a Makeover

Stan, The square cylinders on Elmers Radial are a big turn off for me too. When fall comes and I get back to working in the shop the radial will be my next build after I finish #44. I will be watching with great interest. Alan
