I 2nd the shaper wish. I really want one but everyone I see for sale is far from me. Shipping would cost as much as the machine.

I've had one for a couple of years and I love it. I started using it on a Lathemaster lathe but I bought a D1-4 adapter and I use it mostly on my Jet 13 X 40 lathe now. I consistently get .0005 TIR or less with the chuck. I have been totally happy with this chuck. Kevin

You can indicate the chuck end of the shaft, then lightly tap the outboard end of the shaft to bring it in to a reasonable TIR. You may have to do this a couple of times to get the TIR where you want it on the inboard and outboard ends of the shaft. Then gently use a center drill in the tail...

Nice solution to an age old problem. That's the nice thing abouthaving a home machine shop, being able to make what you need. Looks like it will work just as well as the expensive ones you can buy. I think I'll add it to my to do list also. Have a great day, Kevino
