    Tabletop CNC

You can always look for an old EMCO F1 CNC mill, I have one milling envelope of about 4.5 x 7 inches, they are superbly built, may need some upgrade in steppers or controller based on your needs. You may pick up one for less than 1000.00 USD I can do 2D and 3D milling, have made some cams for...

    Cylinder misalignment question

Crankshaft can be offset from the pistons center line, side offset, check one of the Westbuy designs which does have I think 1/8 inch offset to deal with some odd measures in connecting rods and making room for camshaft tapetts.

The Moriya Story -- short form !

Just ordered the book, have always had the desire to build something nice looking and practical so this one tops the list. recently moved house and had to sell lathe and mill, time to buy new machines and start a new shop, this project will provide the motivation to get re-started

    Arduino Rotary Table for Dummies

Bruce, any chance we can get a copy of your code/sketch to upgrade my existing rotary table software.. I've been using an older version of the one previously published in this web site with very good results, other than some adjustments required between Arduino and motor drive ( I was having...

    Ageless 9 and 18 Radial

I built the 9 and a 5 cylinder one based on some of the early plans where I guess the 9 cylinder originated with many nice upgrades and a lot more of details, anyway 1 inch diameter, depending on the size of the grooves I may have some extra rings.. I used 3 rings per cylinder so that makes it...

    Edgar T Westbury Seal 15cc

In the Model Engineer July 10 1947, there is a correction note when Westbury acknowledges of the error in the firing order mixing of 3-2 in the firing order, if you followed his instructions to build the camshaft with the his process in the lathe, most likely you have ended with a 1-2-4-3...

    Edgar T Westbury Seal 15cc

I used the Hemingway castings ( about 10 years ago so most likely different production run) and they were on the small side of things. Engine runs OK, think I need to increase carburetor size, the one I have is RC modified for petrol. I have one issue, psark plug size, I made the head for the...

    Edgar T Westbury Seal 15cc

One issue I found while building mine around 8-10 years ago was the space in the area where the Tappets are, specially the depth and height of the square box in the area where you have the tappet adjusters, make sure you machine to the right dimensions, very little room there for the valve lash...

    Another Atkinson Differential build

Let's blame the pandemic, I have been sidetracked by family matters taking care of elder mom and have not been able to get back home to tackle the To-Do list on my Mini Artkinson either. I will most likely be able to return to it mid January and we hope to make the planned changes then. Have a...

flat 4 cylinder engine / boxer

I built the flat four some 8 years ago, excellent engine, very good plans. My version was built using METRIC system, bolt taps etc, also the use of a Small CNC machine will help tons in making some of the pieces.. running on RC - Nitro fuel, I used a system from Sullivan to drive the four plugs...

    Another Atkinson Differential build

K.. Building same engine Perrault mini Atkinson with slding valve, just realized I was taking the TDC from the wrong piston yesterday based on your input. Need to consider the pistons on the RIGHT ( pumping Piston ?) instead of power piston to set the events. Ken: Some of the blow by- dripping...

    Another Atkinson Differential build

Ken: Excellent study, diagrams and insight on what may be the key to get the engine to run.. I have put my best effort in cylinder construction and finish, the same goes for the rings, using the best rings produced from the batch for the the engine, after many hours of trying to get the engine...

    Another Atkinson Differential build

I will check on the vacuum issue you experienced in your engine design, just need to find how to hook a gas (LPG) electronic device to the intake port or carburetor to see if I have any back blow form the intake. So far this does not seem to be an issue, engine has a sliding valve which may...
