    Rcexl Ignition schematic

I purchased an Rcexl ignition at the NAMES show last April for the hit & miss engine I’m building. I’d like to add a LED to it in order to aid the timing. Does anyone have a schematic of this ignition so I can figure out where to connect it? Thanks, Jack

Small bench top band saw recommendation

I’m looking for a fairly good quality small bench top band saw (for wood). I’ve looked at both the Skil and Ryobi 9” saws and was very unimpressed with the quality. Does anyone have any thoughts or suggestions? I need a small saw because I don’t have a lot of room in my garage. Thanks, Jack

    Kerzel governor question

I'm building a Kerzel hit & miss. The plans call for a 1/4 inch OD ball bearing for the cam follower bearing. I had a 3/8 OD ball bearing on hand, so I used that. However, I see that I'll need to modify the cam follower so that the governor engages properly. My question is, if the cam lobe is...

    Tapping cast iron

I Bought some BA taps from Coles Power Models several years ago, and assume that they still carry sets of BA taps and dies. Here's a link: http://www.colespowermodels.com

    Tapping cast iron

In my experience, the first rule is: keep it clean. When the tap feels like it's starting to bind, I back it out, brush it off and blow out the hole with air to remove any debris. Jack

    What's it???

I bought this at an estate sale, and I'm trying to figure out what the heck it is. I realize that this is somewhat off topic from what's normally discussed here, but from reading past postings, I know that a lot of very knowledgeable people read it, and maybe someone can help me figure out what...

Gus, It could be that those folders and files are marked hidden. Here’s a couple of links to Microsoft web pages that tells you how to make hidden folders/files visible. Hope this helps. Windows Vista: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows-vista/Show-hidden-files Windows XP...

    Elmer’s Open Column Twin

    >>> The steam chest looks like it is one piece, no cover. Maybe just an illusion? Yeah, it's one piece. I decided to do it that way just to be different. Sorry, no build log or progress pictures (I'm too disorganized). Troutsqueezer... Wow! That's a beautiful looking model. Great photography...

    Old RPM Gauge (Speed Indicator)

I stumbled across an old RPM gauge (Speed Indicator) in an antique store the other day that I’d like to know more about, and I'm wondering if anyone is familiar with it or its maker. It looks to be very well built, with three scales. Anyone ever seen one of these before, and/or know anything...

    Working with cast iron?

Thanks for the thoughts. The main points that I glean from this is: • Clean up afterward • Don’t use oil or other cutting fluids Other than that, it's easy. Anything that I missed? Jack

    Working with cast iron?

Hi All, I’m starting a Kerzel hit & miss engine. The cylinder and piston are cast iron; however I’ve never worked with this material before. For those who’ve used cast iron, are there are any ‘tricks of the trade’ or things I need to know or look out for when working with it? I’ll be using a...
