I find valves tend to be 80% of my problems. On way to check .. fill the chamber with water (oil) and compress the cyl. How much comes out from the valve and how much comes out from the piston. Fix the major culprit. Recommendation... Valve seats need to be very small.

I use them on my jet lathe , no problems. The key is not to distort or twist the movable jaw in the mounting. If the scale reads accurately out of the lathe then it is in the mounting. Ideally two small ball bearings should be clamped on the movable jaw. I have not done that. I was careful how...

I see your going with two separate rings vs. the paired single ring. I was hoping you were going with paired ring. Did you go with heat treated ring or ( my preference) all machine ring? Congratulations on your progress and excellent work. Bob
