    Newbie from Newfoundland!!

Rob; These guys - Metal Supermarkets - are across Canada with an outlet in Halifax; https://www.metalsupermarkets.com/halifax-dartmouth/ I used them 5 years ago (Vancouver outlet) - they'll cut any length, have a fair amount of inventory, shipping was quick but packaging didn't impress. Marks Holt 75

Thanks Mark! I know of that product but have no experience with it. You don't see it on the shelves in this neck of the woods so I never went any farther with it. Time to look harder! Thanks again Garry

Unfortunately my old notebook is 32 bit and I've gone to Linux Mint 17.3 XFCE to escape the Windows Vista slow death. XFCE works fast on this old machine and my only issues...

    Where to start

Great news John ! Just wanted to add that your notes all sound very logical and organized, so not much I can offer. I have no doubt you will get where you need to be. Stay positive. Your shop looks like my place - recently moved and can't seem to get re-organized !! Best of luck and I hope...

    Where to start

No, you are not alone John ! +1 on the above comments. I've been mired in the "must build the tools first" trap and it has sapped my interest. I've come to the realization that building engines was the fun part. So my new plan is to take the engine that interests me the most and git at 'er...

teflon as a crankcase gasket material?

Peter; Try ThreeBond 1194 (Japan mftr) - the motorcycle industry has used it to seal cases and covers for ages - non-hardening. http://www.gwcycleworld.com/threebond-threebond-liquid-gasket-grey-detail.htm?productid=10275615 ..... if you're a Yamaha fan ask for YamaBond - basically the...

bobbyjim; Thanks for the additional photos and description - I'm off to the yard sales ! I might sidestep the power supply issues associated with a rechargeable drill and just adapt a 110v powered drill. Cheers Garry
