    hi i have been able to measure the flywheel for you it is 4 1/2" inches in diameter by 3/4 deep the boss is 1" in diameter the outside wall is 1/4" thick the blades are roughly .8475 across hope this helps regards peter

    i was told when i thought about building one that i should go for the 5" version as the 31/2 version is like making jewelry and is a bit small for running on tracks i have some of the early editions of model engineer with the loco in them i can scan some if required regads peter

    i have built at least 3 of them i have one left at home i can photo it later if you want they are fairly straight forward to build i can not remember any faults with the drawings regards peter

    citric acid will also work you can get it from home brew paces or a good chemist not as volatile as sulphuric acid regards peter

    try googling cyril it, an african queen made by Malcolm beak he also does the engine for it i have a copy of the drawings but at this moment i can not find them i think the engine is m22 but will stand to be corrected i'll let you know what else i can find out regarfs peter

    hi don and john many thanks for your input i have managed to get the dimensions working ok now so i'll give it a go i used to have a copy of auto cad but it will not run on this new machine regards peter

    thanks easymike29 i have downloaded it but it same as the others when you put a dimension in it fills the page i have now sorted out my own template so will use that i will have to look up how to re size the dimension arrows at a later date many thanks regards peter
