    Wasted spark ignitions

Thanks Scott The one that might have the circuitry built into it, I’m interested. It looks like this one is used in VW cars. I’ll try to get to a dealer this week and maybe they will give me a schematic. I’m hoping it might be just a 5 volt signal, I can then use a Hall effect to make it spark.

    Wasted spark ignitions

Could someone help me understand how these coils fire? I know they get a signal from the ECU, but what is the signal? 5v? How can I do a bench test and make them fire the plugs? I know they are wasted spark, and one pin fires 1 and 4 the other pin fires 2 and 3. Thank You

    Simpson & Shipton

Hi, I finished Stewart Harts (Potty Engineering) design of the Simpson & Shipton steam engine. It was built from all bar stock, except the flywheel. I bought a flywheel casting from Martin Models. The piston, I wanted to try a carbon rod. Wasn't sure if that would work, but so far I've had it...

Dake Steam Engine in 3D by Ernie Daniel

I started looking at these prints and wondering if someone could help me out. The inner piston has the steam ports around the radius and they are not centered?? Why would that be? one side is .046 and the other is .097 Stew I studied your prints and you put the slots on a radius and they are...

Dake Steam Engine in 3D by Ernie Daniel

anyone know this maker? That's Stewart Hart. Potty Engineering. Here is a link to him building this one. https://www.model-engineer.co.uk/forums/postings.asp?th=74898 I've been searching online for an hour on this engine. It's pretty cool, and it looks really simple to build.

Dake Steam Engine in 3D by Ernie Daniel

Has anyone used these prints to make a model? This looks like a really cool and unique steam engine?? Is there anymore prints out there to build this Dake engine?

    Arduino Rotary Table for Dummies

Bob, that is awesome! thanks for the lesson and example. is there a way to tell the Arduino you want a specific number of index? say for example, you want 48 teeth....can you just type 48 in the LCD and it will figure out the angle to move? (7.5degrees) Also, I PM'd you on a question I have with...

    cutting a gear

The gears are on hold for now. I have almost completed my String Jig. Here is a youtube video simulating 2" of serving. It works great with Mach3. Someday maybe I'll get excited about the Arduino(I have someone looking into it for me from the Archery club) I need to put controls in a box and get...

    cutting a gear

Thanks Al, yes that is the issue with me, 90 turns. I don't use it to much so not too big an issue. I just started playing with Arduino, is there some links you can point me?? To see other projects? I have a archery string jig/winder I am building and using Mach3 right now. (I have these...

    cutting a gear

If anyone is interested, I was always wondering about turning a super spacer into a dividing head with the plates, crank handle, and sector. I bought this kit on ebay....mounted on my 6" super spacer, and it works great! I have better stability. The only thing I don't like is the 90:1.......I...

    cutting a gear

That is the plan. That is when I discovered I had the wrong tooth number.

    cutting a gear

Thanks, I thought about doing it that way, but for $30 I can buy an involute #1 cutter (135 to rack). these teeth are bigger, and cutter will only be used one time. So I chose the faster route. I might make a smaller gear and use some A2 to make a cutter another time... We will see. Here is a...

    cutting a gear

Almost looking good! Now I will have to chuck it in the lathe and turn all the teeth off to make a 12 DP with 66 teeth. This is what happened when I didn't measure twice and cut once. I have 50 teeth on a 6.25 diameter wheel, (8 DP) Dammit!! I didn't notice until I cranked my knee up the .393...
