    Total Eclipse April 8th, 2024 - Arkansas

The eclipse rolled through here in Texas. We were lucky in that we could watch it from the home driveway. No traveling needed. It was something of a circus everywhere as I swear everyone and their cousins were out charging an admission of parking fee everywhere for it. They had rallies...

    A Micro Drill Press

As I understood it; the really small drill bits need some really high rpm’s to avoid breaking them. Those things are really quite fragile and easy to break off just trying to handle them. I had gotten some to use with printed circuit boards to drill through holes etc. and yes those things are...

Yeah I had been drooling over those scale model tools for a long time now too. Thanks for posting.

    A Micro Drill Press

Nice job on the micro drill press. I like it. I wanted to build a scale 1/8 or 1/4 model drill press and lathe maybe even a milling machine too. But I haven’t gotten around to doing it or attempting to do it,

How not to Do Backyard Metal Casting

I can attest to the concern about water getting into the molten metal, many years ago I was casting some lead. A drop of sweat fell off of me and before I could get out of the way it fell into the pot. A small explosion of lead and steam then occurred. One of the molten lead droplets landed on...

    A solenoid engine?

Nice. I always wanted to build a radial solenoid engine myself. But I never found the time to go so. I have too many hobbies already and never enough time.

    interesting museum... Carlsbad CA (USA)

Quartzite is pretty neat. We went there several times, years ago, for the rock shows etc. Back then it was a tiny little town with big RV parks. Not sure if it is a bigger town now. It would grow from like a 100 population to 50,000 during the shows.

    interesting museum... Carlsbad CA (USA)

Aw heck. Then I will likely never get to visit it then. Bummer.

    interesting museum... Carlsbad CA (USA)

Now I have to figure out a way to go there and visit that museum. I do not think it was there in 1987 when we visited the caverns. Another interesting museum is the DFW Elite Toy museum in Hurst Texas. They have a number of detailed car models, etc with working engines. One example is a very...

    Hello every one

Welcome to the forum. I bought a Taig Micro Lathe many years ago. It is Made in the USA and not China. They do sell them in the UK as well. I have been quite satisfied with it too. But I think it is the accessories and tooling that is where all the action is at. They sell lathe sets and just...

    Any one building small engine

Well yes a few people have made some true model diesel engines including fuel injection. They talk about them in this thread here: Fuel injection for model diesels, how can it be done? One example: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-PvZ6S8cadk']http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-PvZ6S8cadk

    Any one building small engine

I was thinking at first about the classic Boll Aero 1.8 diesel engine. There are detailed plans for the engine out there too. ref BollAero 1.8 Gallery But for a smaller .030 size engine one could scale it down some too. I know some people have made small engines in this size range before. I...

    Any one building small engine

Alex Finn of Red Fin Engines is still selling small engines. https://www.redfinengines.com/ He gets them made to his specifications in the Ukraine or China. Cox engines is still going OK. They get some parts made where needed and continue to sell small engines. Cox International - The world's...

    Small Ignition Coil Drive Question

Yes I think that you should have gotten a DC version instead. I am trying to remember what one can do in using the AC version. Not enough coffee in me yet. One of the forum members posted a link to a thread he started on the subject at the beginning of this in post number 5. it might help. here...
