Anyone care to suggest a value on this rotary table?

That's a Palmgren. I rebuilt, painted and sold one last year for $250 on Kijiji. It sold in a couple of hours. Bill

    Hello from Ontario

Hi Guys. Bill here in Ottawa, I'm a member of the Home Shop Machinists group here. There's maybe a dozen members in the group, we meet once a month for dinner and talk. I haven't built any model engines, but am interested and may start on one in the near future. I have a small garage shop, with...

    Myford S7 DRO Modification

Hi Norm, After a bit of hunting, I found a partial backup of Chris Heapy's site on the Wayback Machine (an internet archive, for those who don't know). Seems like the site went away in 2005. Anyway, there's a substantial version of it at...

Help with design of a Flat Twin .18 c.i Model Airplane Engine

Nope, there's just a hyperlink, no pictures visible. From the error message, I'm guessing that there's something to do with user privilege that is inhibiting some of us from seeing the pictures. Bill

help getting lathe up and running?

I'm more in the "get it level" camp. Once I get a machine together to the point of being able to make chips, it's really hard for me to tear it back down again to do things right. One of the more important things you can do to get a lathe to perform well is getting the bed straight and level...

help getting lathe up and running?

I'd start out working on the bed. Clean it up, go over it carefully looking for damage. Smooth down any dings or dents with appropriate file/scraper/stone, clean again and paint anything you want painted. Figure out where you're going to mount the lathe and bolt down the bed, making sure it's...

help getting lathe up and running?

Those parts are an Atlas manufactured 10F. Can't tell the bed length, but it's a 10F for sure. If it was sold by Sears, it'll have a Craftsman nameplate and model number, but the parts are unmistakable. It has a babbitt bearing headstock, and change gears rather than a quick change.
