    How is this possible.

Hi Kadora, Did truing up the Z axis resolve the issue?

    How is this possible.

Yes....how is this possible? I have a 4 year old Optimum BF20L Milling Machine with DRO fitted. (Photo attached) When I set up a job to be milled in the centre of the work such as steam engine ports I will use the DRO with the edge finder ....locate the exact edge & move into the centre of the...

    Engine identification.

Hi Guys, Can one of you clever people tell me what this engine is.....it's 7 inches tall.

    Getting there.

Well...I've been making swarf in an attempt to build an engine for my steam boat. The challenge is to make a twin cylinder slide valve engine. Started with an oscillator, then a single slide valve, then a twin slide valve. Have to re-make the eccentrics though, as the grub screws holding...

    Dodgy steam engine...help!

I recently bought a new twin marine engine & I've had nothing but trouble with it. Firstly it would not run, even at 50 psi. Then I found one of the eccentrics loose. It seemed to exhaust a lot of steam for no movement. I re-tightened the eccentric & it finally started to turn over on it's own...

    Too much exhaust steam.

Thanks for your good advice gentlemen....I played around with the slide valve & hey presto...magic happened. The difference in performance is outstanding. I love this forum! Corrado.

    Too much exhaust steam.

Hi guys, Built my first slide valve engine...it's a single cylinder with 5/8 bore & 3/4 inch stroke. Was a big learning process for me.....however it runs weakly & has way too much exhaust steam. It seems the steam is by-passing the cylinder. How can I fix this problem? Cheers.....Corrado.

    Model boat engine requirements

Hi Mike, You will need a small twin cylinder engine, either oscillator or slide valve so that it will self start. Oscillators are easier to reverse but slide valve engines leak less steam & are more efficient. From my personal experience, I can personally recommend the PM Research V Twin or...

    Problem TVR1A BB Engine

Hello Gentlemen, This may be in the wrong section...but I'm hoping for some good advice. I've been running my TVR1A BB Engine for about a year now & it's suddenly developed a problem When cold it's all loose & spins freely but when it steams up, it will run fine for a couple of minutes &...

    STEAM ENGINE TWO CYLINDERS. Homemade.

Very nice job Juan. Did you work from plans? This engine would really go well in a Paddle Steamer.

    Old Design V-Twin Oscillator.

Found the plans on the net somewhere & gave it a go. 3/8" bore x 3/4" stroke double acting. Works ok on compressed air although it has much vibration due to the stainless steel crankshaft wearing out the brass housing. So next time I will lower the crankshaft & use ball bearings to house the...
