    DRO question

I cant remember where I bought it. A google search for mill z axis dro will bring them up. I have an odd enco mill. I bought one for a full size mill. As you can see there was a little adaptation necessary. So far I’m happy. I can hit depths in blind holes with it.It ran me around 100 bucks. I...

Danuzzo, Check out this on YouTube Tubal Cain builds an oscillating steam engine part 4/5 at minute 18:00 he describes how to locate the ports with transfer punches. worth watching the entire build, that’s how I built mine. He gives dimensions in part 6. I drew up a set of plans and wrote an...

    First engine

I’ll look for the video that I used as instruction covering just that. Works out to be very easy but stressful because of the potential to need to remake parts. Give me a few hours and I’ll get back to you with it. Dave

    First engine

Danuzzo, Couple things I found helpful. Make your piston to fit your bore. It’s much easier to make a new piston than a new block. I polished with compound to get a fit that pops when you cover the ports and pull the piston out. sand and polish the mating surfaces between the block and the...

Step by step instruction and full drawings showing every dimension you need to know. Between the two books I have several years of work if I...

    1st sterling

Andrew that could be a problem for me. i substituted a quart paint can for the tin of sweets as im not interested in importing a can of mints just for this project. on the other hand I'm substituting Styrofoam for the displacer so it should be less mass to move. we'll see how it goes. i can...

    casting accidcent

nomex wont sustain combustion on its own under most conditions, but i dont see it being appropriate here. i don't think it would do anything useful with molten metal. as to kevlar i dont see it being any better under this application. according to...
