    Horizontal Twin

Hi Ray, great work. I especially like the overhead cam setup. What type of carburettor are you using and where did you get it. Thanks.

    Trembler Coils--(Constant spark)

Hi, I built a free running multivibrator running at 200Hz which is switched by a reed switch and magnet. Output of the multivibrator switches a transistor which switches current to the coil. Used it on several of my IC engines both 2 stroke and 4 stroke. No problems at all. The multi spark...

    V-TWIN---MAYBE V-4

I have never heard of anyone on this forum using Teflon to make cam followers. I have used it on this small engine and they perform great as they are self lubricating.

    No Emails

Hi I have not received my regular forum update emails for a couple of days. Is anyone else having the same problem.

Model engine CDI easy and cheap

Hi Paulc, good to see that you have it working. I believe that Tornitore45 in post 6 of this thread has an explanation of the trigger pulse required for the CDI module. He says that it needs to see a negative pulse to arm the unit before the positive pulse. He says that you can use a simple...

Model engine CDI easy and cheap

Hi Paulc, it is possible that the CDI module might require a high pulse to trigger it. I have only looked at the pulse on my ocilloscope as I do not have a CDI module and it produces a nice clean 10v pulse. Maybe this is not enough. Do you know if it is possible to obtain a schematic of the...

Model engine CDI easy and cheap

You need to add a pullup resistor from the +ve to the signal terminal of the hall sensor. The resistor and led which you have put there is ok to show that the sensor is working but is not acting as a proper pullup. You can leave the resistor and led and add the pullup as I have shown in the...

Model engine CDI easy and cheap

You need a pullup resistor from the +ve to the signal wire of the hall sensor and the other mods in my post. I will try to post a diagram later tonight.

Model engine CDI easy and cheap

Ok after looking at the specs. of the KY-003 I realise that it does work by grounding the signal terminal when it senses a magnet. I was thinking of something else. You need to put a 1K pullup resistor from the +ve terminal to the output terminal of the sensor. You also need a 1K pullup...

Model engine CDI easy and cheap

Hi, I've noticed that you are using the Arduino hall effect sensor module. That module outputs a +5V signal when a magnet is detected and so will not work with that circuit because it has a PNP transistor which requires a negative signal to the base for it to conduct.

    Loyal Cycle Engine

Nick did not have any castings available at the time so I bought the plans off him and decided to make it out of barstock. I'm glad that I went that way because I think that I may not have been able to fit the casting in my lathe.

    Loyal Cycle Engine

Hi, I can't find much on the loyal cycle engine on this forum so I decided to post a video of such an engine I built a few months ago. Design is by Nick Rowland.

    Loyal Cycle Engine

Hi, I can't seem to be able to post an mp4 video on this post. Can someone explain to me how to attach a video. Thanks.

    Zx45 wiring question

Hi Ken, that diagram that you got of the internet is correct. The start capacitor is the higher capacitance capacitor. The start capacitor will also have a lower voltage rating than the run capacitor. If your motor is sluggish at starting you may have a faulty start capacitor or the centrifugal...
