The attached file contains the arduino sketch I wrote for my dividing head. The math algorithm is written to assure that the 0 (zero) location always winds up at the same point of rotation. As it moves, it recalculates the position from zero so no matter how many times it goes around or back...

I'm learning how to create drawings in Fusion 360, so thought I would start posting drawings of the Maudslay model steam engine I just finished. The first part I made was the cylinder, so I thought I would start with a drawing for that. Let me know if I've missed something or am doing...

Thanks. The frame was assembled from individual parts. The feet, circle patterned brass insert, and top bridge connector were CNC cut. The sides of each frame are 1/4" brass tubing. All the frame parts were soldered together and fastened to the brass base plate with screws from the bottom.

Here's a video of my completed Maudslay oscillating steam engine. Lapping the rotary valve to valve block took fixed the last of the air leaks, so now the exhaust is about the only air that is audible. Chuck

I wanted to follow up and let folks know how this turned out. First, let me say, at the end of the day, I wasn't feeling very confident about my results. I simply had no good way to measure my results. But, when I assembled the engine and hooked up the air, I was delighted with the results...

I'm building a small, double acting steam engine modeled after a design by Henry Maudslay. The engine uses a 3/8" diameter, 5/8" long stainless steel rotary valve which rotates inside a brass valve block. To reduce air leakage, I am trying to lap the valve bore in the brass valve block and...
