    Engine won't start

Before you fault the carburetor check the simple things. Spark, spark plug, compression, valve seating. To check the intake valve hold your finger over the air intake and turn the engine over, if the fuel draws up the clear fuel line and then pushes back in the line on the compression stroke...

Large coles hit and miss engine

Correct, the neg terminal on the coil goes to the points. They are a switch to ground. Don't forget to add a capacitor parallel to this part of the circuit. And the large centre terminal is the high tension lead to the spark plug.

Large coles hit and miss engine

Large coles hit and miss engine

Hi Wayne, it's been a lot of years since I built mine but I have the drawings stashed somewhere, I will look for them. I will try to get a picture of the cam also, if possible. The engine is mounted in my version of a hit and miss tractor and it may be difficult to get a picture. Peter

    Hello from Ontario

Hi Colin, I'm in Goderich, so not too far away and my daughter and grandchildren live in Woodstock. I've been playing around building engines for twenty years now. Not retired yet, so hard to find much time for hobbies. I have built some Duclos engines and some from casting kits. Currently I...
