Copper is rarely laser cut as it can damage the source, especially CO2 lasers but a fiber source can also be ruined. Damage occurs during the pierce as the molten copper is highly reflective. Copper is best punched, milled or cut with an abrasive water jet.
I have both CO2 (150W) and fiber...
Part of the idea of using laser cutting is to give a different look and keep cost down. It's vastly cheaper to laser cut parts compared to machining them. Some people might be on a tight budget.
Hi All
I'm really just thinking out loud here but it would be nice to get some feedback :)
I run a laser cutting business and can cut up to 10mm mild steel. I have also recently bought a Mazak QT6 CNC lathe and a Syil X7-20 VMC has been ordered and should arrive in a few months time. I have...
I use Gearotic Motion to generate the CAD files and then cut the gears on my laser. Finish and precision is OK for low load applications. There are several online gear generators available.
Very nice.
I always have a lot of waste from the laser, especially 2mm and 4mm mild steel and 2mm stainless steel. Many of the parts for this engine could be laser cut so I ought to give it a go.
I run a small laser cutting business and have been full time self-employed since November 2019. I have a 100W CO2 laser cutter/engraver for wood and plastics and a 1kW fiber laser cutter for steel and metals. I also have a 50W fiber laser engraver for metal and ceramics. My customers are a mixed...
Depends a bit on config but standard with 12-tool ATC, Siemens 808D control and 3.7kW spindle it's $18000 FOB Shanghai. Upgrade to 5.5kW spindle is $290.
The Skyfire is very much hobby grade and from what I gather not good value for money. I very quickly passed on that as an option.
Most second hand imports are people buying directly from abroad. It's an option but I've not come across anything that suits budget and size. There are a few Mini...
Could you qualify that? Was were the issues with it? Most feedback I see on Chinese machines is anecdotal - very rare to get a first hand opinion. There is a big difference in quality from mfg. to mfg. Some people seem to just pick the cheapest they can find off Alibaba without doing any...
