    7 1/4" Mikado Loco

A tiny bit more info.... The former owner of Superscale has passed away a year ago. There seem to be negotiations with a buyer. No News about any deal. Someone seems to sell the superscale couplers now, probably has bought the Patterns. Doesn't look well for buying superscale stuff..... Mike

Fitting a rods in plastic gears

Hi jokmu, I would file a flat area on the rod for the setscrew. Additionally I would add some Loctite to the Joint. But check before if the type of Loctite is suitable to Your POM. Both methods combined should be sufficient for Your low torque application. Mike

    Silver solder source

Thats right, since some time in 2014 it is illegal in the EU to manufacture, sell or use in commercial/industrial environment Cd-containing solder. Of course everyone can use it in his homeshop on his own risk. There are only few exceptions if no alternative exists and there is no risk to...

    3D Modeling Software

At first, I admit I have never worked with any Alibre version. But after some positive comments on forums I got interested in Alibre 2 years ago. I did a thorough look through their websites. What I found out was that IMO there are too many essential features for 3D modeling that are only...

    Measurement equipment

Agreed. Except the 3€ plastic ones I use to check the size of screws. With my best brand quality ones measurements are repeatably correct within +- 0.001" When working on the lathe, my practice is similar. When machining good fits, I turn them down to 0.3-0.4mm oversize using a caliper and then...
