It may well be but I’ve already got someone wanting to come down from Sydney and pick it up for $10k so I can’t be too far off the mark. There is almost 20 years age difference from the $5900 lathe and mine. I guess some people might like to turn long pieces over 19/32 and still be able to keep the Myford name.

You are doing well. Must be a very nice example of the breed. I think they are now priced at about 8000 Pounds new so with shipping and import/GST taxes etc would be well over the $20,000 mark landed in Oz. Half of brand new price could be seen as pretty fair for someone who really wants one if it's in top condition.

You’re probably right, there’s probably hundreds of thousands of south bends floating around the USA because they were made there. Myfords had to be imported here so there’s heaps around. Especially later models made after 2000. I see all the new southbends are made in China now yet have price tags over $20k. I wonder what a 16 year old south bend would fetch.

Difficult to say. Hercus South Bend clones sell for $1500 pretty regularly, sometimes less, sometimes more. Ditto ML7s. At the other end of the scale, and globe, there is an S7 on the Model Engineer forum for 300 quid. Says it has some rust and may need a bed grind but who knows. Looks passable in the pic.
