Whatever you paid for it new plus %20. Why? Last i knew Myford was done as a business so the lathes aren't made anymore. That and the general upward trend in the cost of asian machines means the quality of a Myford holds it value.

I think you can still buy new Myford lathes (at a price ) and spares are also available.

Depends largely on where you and the lathe live. Prices worldwide vary greatly, and even from region to region in the same country.

There is a Super 7 on Ebay Australia right now for A$4,200 or best offer. I've seen others closer to the $3,000 mark.

There was one last year on Craigslist in Tampa Florida, it was a late model with lots of accessories and was advertised for US$10,450. Initially, I thought that's a bit steep, but given the amount of equipment with the machine and that it was only listed for 7 days perhaps I am wrong. I luv my 1960 Super Seven and would recommend one to any new model engineer. I also have a 2008 Chinese mini lathe which is good now I have changed the bearings and trued up the guideways.
Just for fun, I have a 1909 Drummond round bed with a treadle, a great workout machine and surprisingly accurate.

Thanks Apprentice707, From looking through the link near the top of this thread, he had the Myford listed for $10,800US and got what he was asking within the week. Can I ask what accessories accompanied it as the craigslist page has expired? I’m asking $12,000AU for mine ($8325US) but it doesn’t have much in the way of accessories. A 3 jaw self centering, 4 jaw Independant, face plate, travelling steady, fixed steady, Jacobs chuck, live centre, some hss, a double swivel milling attachment and a Myford metric conversion kit in the box.

Apparently, or so said my late wife that our boundary wall was from stone stolen from the Wall. Certainly, the old farm house adjoining has Anglo Saxon bits in it. We have a Mental Home but I've mentioned that already!

$12,000 may be a bit optimistic. There's three Super 7s on Gumtree right now ranging from A$2700 to A$5900.

It may well be but I’ve already got someone wanting to come down from Sydney and pick it up for $10k so I can’t be too far off the mark. There is almost 20 years age difference from the $5900 lathe and mine. I guess some people might like to turn long pieces over 19/32 and still be able to keep the Myford name.

A lathe must be a rare thing in Oz. I've two 9" South Bends (9" swing) , one bench, one underdrive, with quick change gear boxes & taper attachments, 3&4 jaw chucks, Hardinge 1A collets by 64ths, tail stock chucks, KDK quick change tool holders (a Western US thing), plus lots of other bits of kit. Don't think I have more than US$ 1,500 in the pair...

Comstock: Compared to the USA, yes good quality small lathes are fewer and further between. But Myfords seem to have developed a mythology all of their own. Local clones of the South Bend 9" - the Hercus - sell for more like $1500 and are in my opinion a better machine. But that's just me.
