LSBC 0-6-0 Minx

Hello,

I've been considering LSBC's Minx as a possible loco build. Is there any known issues with the plans in ME? I have collected all the articles, and favour it over the simplex as the amount of listed errors on the simplex is quite extensive, if well documented.

I will be building it with joy valve gear as I've been informed the Stephenson gear just doesn't work as planned and I haven't the knowledge to re design it.

The wheels will be just plain discs with a balance weight screwed on in place, with the chassis and wheels painted black I'm hoping this won't be too noticeable.

I've been looking at the boiler and I think it needs a few things changing to bring it upto current standards, two safety valves instead of the one as drawn. Boiler bushes instead of plain tapped holes in the copper. Also the grate is retained at the rear of the Firebox with a steel bracket which is screwed directly to the foundation ring, surely this can't be good for the foundation ring and over time of repeat heatings would have a fatigue effect on it and possibly a crack appear.

I'd be interested to hear your thoughts please.
