I've published a new page for my blog that could be of interest.

http://pigi-machinering.blogspot.it/2017/05/a-diy-bandsaw-for-shop.html

Here the basic arrangement.

I hope I'm not violating any rule by publishing the link. As I told it's easier for me to keep everything inside a post.
If I'm violating I will try to arrange differently.

Cheers

P.s. some of you that read other forum may find it a duplicate, but some that don't may find this interessing.

Nice build!

Im on my cell phone at the moment so didn't read the blog in depth but clearly you put much effort into this.

Hi Pigi
Nice Job much more rigid than almost all of mass produced band saws.
Enjoyed the video clips however the one where you cut an angle iron gave me great concern as you pushed the angle against the blade with bare hands with the finger and thumb straddling the line of cut.
PLEASE use a piece of wood or aluminium if you wish to retain your hand in one piece.
Your band saw will remove digits much quicker than slicing though steel.
I fully understand you being eager to test it and still a work in progress so a guard on the vertical part of the blade is on the list of jobs to complete.
Safety is the only reason for what I hope is constructive criticism.
Once again an excellent project.

Nice job

Eric, thanks for your compliments, and also for the advices.
The gard on the vertical part is on the todo list, but I must admit that was not high on the priority one ( maybe it should ).
In my experience, being that the speed of blade is very very low, in case of break ot should not be a problem at all, but I will raise the priority, just to be sure.

Most importat the advice on keeping the finger out of the way.
As soon as I complete the Brook Stent I'm building I will start to add several add-on to help in cutting parts with augmented security ( expecially for the cylindrical parts :) )
