Hi there,

Now and then I read about some Windows 'problems'.
I'm not going to start a pro-con discussion here whether a Win, Linux or Apple OS is better or best.
Thing is, make the best of it with what you're using.

My point is : Windows is not that bad at all.
I'm still using XP (the best ever) and will continue doing so.
The solution for a good and fast Windows-OS is to use a recovery program (I use Norton Ghost). Windows recovery does not work, never did.
After a new PC-install, add all drivers and software you're going to use on that PC. Add a recovery program and your save for the rest of that 'PC-life'.

In case of problems, doubt or after a few months your windows is getting slow, just run that program and 15 minutes later your OS is as new as it was when you started it. Before you start to run that recovery, do not forget to save documents and mails of course.

Cleaning up a PC is a waste of time and software that supposedly will do it for you is waste of money...! A recovery program is the best investment you should consider.

I just re-install my PC every 6 month's or so. Takes me about an hour or so and I have all the install disks and drivers and I get early one Saturday and sort the PC out. Forget Anti-Virus because they never catch everything.

Never tried ghost but I will give it a go next time I re-install.

Correct...!!

Two golden rules 'to stay clean' :
1- Do NOT visit obscure site
2- do NOT open doubtful mails

That's all there is to.

Just last week, my wife brought home a sick Windows7 PC for me to look at.
It belonged to the manager of the gun shop where she works, his home computer.
He couldn't even get it to start up.

I dumped the latest recovery and was able to get it to try and load but
there were DLL errors all over the place.

In the end, I had to take it back to "Factory Image" using Windows System Recovery.

He had all of his files backed up on some free online storage site so he didn't lose a thing.

BONUS: He said I had saved him from needing to buy a new computer, so
he'd make me a special deal on anything in the gun shop.

The wife says, "NO MORE GUNS!".

Yes Dear.

Rick,

Did you dare to ask the manager what he did with that PC before it crashed...

Naaaaaa
He's so straight it's annoying! LOL

I do know where the problem originated.
It was a failed installation of an iTunes program.
