I've been thinking lately I would like to Zinc plate the nuts and bolts on my little Honda engine. The raw steel just didnt look right and my try to fake the zinc plate with silver paint looked worse. Very happy with the way this turned out. Only down side is I lost one.

I know how that goes, when I was a little kid (last week), I had a wrench with which I took thge bolt off my tri-cycle handle bars. lost the bolt in the gravel and never found it. What a great disappointment. I learned from that to be careful where I put parts. NOw I ustually try to put nuts and bolts back in the place they came from for temporary storage or in a small container with a lid. I was about 3 then, haven't aged much since.

👍. Got lucky today. Went in my shop and retraced my steps from my bench to where I have my plating setup. The cord to my Henry vacuum saved the day. The little 2.5mm screw was captured up against it. On my second batch of plating for this engine now.

A wonderful touch added to an already superb bit of craftsmanship Basil!!!

I’ve been wanting to buy a zinc chromate kit to give my carburetor parts that chromated yellowish tint. Have you looked at those?

Dropped 2 (of 4) panel fixing screws yesterday. Found 2 others on the floor while searching... they'll turn up. Like Little Bo Peep's Sheep. They come home when they are ready....
It's just the Borrowers or Gnomes playing games... But I catch them out, I simply drop something more important - which they quickly hide before I can get to the floor - then they leave behind in full view the other bits that I dropped earlier.
Basil, what did you drop in order to find that 2.5mm screw? - I find the little bleeders like something in exchange before letting me have the bit I dropped earlier!
