Default Rhodes Shaper

I just purchased a disassembled Rhodes Shaper and I have seen a number of posts on here, but not recently. I am look for someone I can communicate with about questions I may have as I restore the machine, and any technical literature some one is willing to share.

Thanks,

Patrick

I Googled - who is my rusty friend and found a reference to your shaper along with the name Atlas.

So I would suggest that you Google NEMES- Shaper books as the old Ian Bradley book of the shaper should still be there--somewhere.

I gave my Bradley away- in a misplaced fit of generosity.

Hope this helps

Norm

Thank you both. I knew of Keith Rucker's site but not of NEMES which is a goldmine. I very much appreciate it.

Default Rhodes Shaper

mcostello,

That is good to hear. The one I just got is in three or so parts but looks like it is all there except the motor. It looks like it was belt driven from above, very old school. When the weather warms up I plan to start the rebuild, most looks good except the base where there is pitting at the bottom, like it was sitting in standing water for a while.

Thanks for responding,

Patrick

Mine was over head flat belt drive. I added a motor with v belt drive to a jack shaft that goes to flat belt drive. I made a 3 step flat belt pulley mirroring the original pulley from scrap and re purposed materials.

Patrick, I have a 7" Rhodes shaper, serial #16. I have completely disassembled, cleaned, and restored it. It was in amazing condition; no broken parts, one bearing restored. I'm probably the 4th owner, perhaps 5th. I've sent a PM with my contact info, would be happy to share documentation and observations.
