Default a 5" gauge GWR Castle class loco

It has been well over a year since I started this project to supply castings for the title engine, done a lot of other things too , in-between , but I have just finished the bogie support frame casting,

this is the large casting that sits below the inside slide bar frame , as shown in the cad assembly drawing.

Although a large casting weighing half a kilo the walls , at 3/32" , are quite thin and getting usable wax patterns
from the rubber mould proved tricky.
After several attempts and much re-working of the mould I was eventually successful.

Just noticeable in the cad assembly drawing is the centre pivot bearing , coloured blue ,
this bearing , as it says , allows the required pivoting movement of the bogie,

I cast it in phosphor bronze as there is a lot of weight and movement on this part , which actually runs in a pair of steel liners

All in all a very satisfying job !
