Default My first build

Well you can hardly call it that...

My wife, the kids bought me a steam engine kit for my birthday recently..
Thought I'd post up a few piccies of how it goes together ( rather than a build... tis a bit toyish...)

Boiler and bands..The bands were rolled on my 'new rollers'....

Cylinder/crank mounting..

Looking not bad...(for a toy engine...)

I have that exact same kit sat in my garage i bought it before i got my lathe . In fact you can say that is what got me into this hobby because i drilled the fly wheel in the wrong place and thought if i had a lathe i could remake it so i went and got a lathe . The only thing is i never actually got back on to it so it sits collecting dust .

Rob.......

Where'd the kit come from? Did the boiler come already soldered?

rleete,
This is where the kit came from....
http://www.forest-classics.co.uk/Bas...iler%20Kit.htm

The boiler is basically a brass tube with brass end caps that need soldering....
